What’s in a capsule
Each capsule contains 400 mg of grape seed extract and 100 mg of acerola fruit extract. The values specified for each extract are listed below.
Grape seed extract
mg per capsule, Vitis vinifera
Acerola fruit extract
mg per capsule, Malpighia glabra
* Analytical values determined using specific measurement methods. They are subject to the fluctuations typical of natural products and cannot simply be added together as weight percentages of the extract.
Good to know
Many people are familiar with OPC from adverts, but few know what it actually is. Here are the key facts in brief.
A plant compound from the polyphenol group
OPC stands for oligomeric proanthocyanidins. They belong to the group of secondary plant compounds and are found, amongst other things, in grape seeds, the skins of red grapes, blueberries, cranberries and peanuts.
From grape seeds
An extract from the seeds of French grapes is used in our capsules. The seeds contain significantly more of these compounds than the pulp.
What can be said about OPC
There are currently no authorised health claims for OPC and grape seed extract in the EU, and there are no recommended intake levels. We therefore do not make any claims regarding the efficacy of OPC; instead, we provide the analytical values per capsule.
Understanding the label
OPC products often feature several figures. Here’s how to interpret them.
Extract
400 mg of grape seed extract refers to the total amount of extract in one capsule. In addition to OPC, an extract also contains other plant compounds.
Total phenols
260 mg is an analytical reference value for the polyphenols in the extract, calculated as gallic acid. It does not indicate the exact mass of all polyphenols. OPCs belong to the polyphenol group.
OPC
236 mg is the analytical value for oligomeric proanthocyanidins. The exact value depends on the measurement method and the reference standard used.
Why it is difficult to compare figures
Depending on the analytical method, the values for the same extract can differ. OPC figures for different products are therefore only comparable to a limited extent without knowing the measurement method, even if they are given in milligrams.
What vitamin C contributes
One capsule contains 17 mg of vitamin C from acerola, which is 21% of the nutrient reference value. The following claims apply to the vitamin C contained in the product, not to OPC.
Immune system & cell protection
Collagen formation
Energy, nerves & psyche
Health claims in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 432/2012. No health claims are permitted for OPC or grape seed extract. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Diet first
A varied diet rich in fruit, vegetables and nuts provides numerous phytochemicals. These foods are particularly good sources.
Red grapes
OPCs are found mainly in the seeds and skins of grapes.
Berries
Blueberries, cranberries and aronia berries are among the polyphenol-rich fruits and add plenty of colour to your plate.
Nuts
Peanuts with their skins and other nuts also provide polyphenols, as well as fibre and unsaturated fatty acids.
Vitamin C
Peppers, broccoli, citrus fruits, blackcurrants and kiwi fruit are good sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C is sensitive to heat; more of it is retained when eaten raw or cooked briefly.
Added value in everyday life
Red grapes, crisp peppers and toasted walnuts on lamb’s lettuce. A quick, colourful salad that goes well with bread or as a side dish.

OPC stands for oligomeric proanthocyanidins. These are plant compounds belonging to the polyphenol group. They are found, for example, in grape seeds, the skins of red grapes and in berries.
One capsule contains 400 mg of grape seed extract. Two analytical values are given for this extract: 260 mg of total phenols, calculated as gallic acid, and 236 mg of OPC. Both values are derived from specific measurement methods and cannot simply be calculated as weight percentages of the extract.
Manufacturers sometimes state the amount of extract, sometimes a percentage, and sometimes the OPC content in milligrams. Furthermore, the values may differ depending on the measurement method and reference standard used. OPC claims for different products are therefore only comparable to a limited extent without knowledge of the measurement method.
No. To date, no health claims have been authorised in the EU for OPC or grape seed extract. The information provided on this page applies to the vitamin C contained in the product.
Acerola is a fruit native to Central and South America with a high vitamin C content. The acerola fruit extract in our capsules provides 17 mg of vitamin C per capsule, which is 21% of the nutrient reference value.
Please do not. The recommended daily intake is one capsule per day. There is no recommended daily intake for OPC, and the safety of isolated plant substances in high doses over a long period has not been sufficiently studied.
If you take medication regularly, particularly anticoagulants, discuss taking this product with your doctor or pharmacist beforehand.
There is insufficient data on isolated plant extracts such as OPC during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Only take the capsules during this time after consulting your doctor.
The product is intended for adults. Consult a doctor beforehand if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication regularly.
Yes. The capsules contain grape seed extract, acerola fruit extract and a vegetable-based capsule shell made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.
